Mission

The Wilaya Trust’s mission is twofold:

1. to provide support to community-based educational programmes throughout the U.K. and beyond, by serving as an educational consultancy that develops models and materials for holistic education tailored for individual communities' needs;

2. to run our own flagship, holistic educational institute in Oxford, where we can use and refine the models and resources which we then share with other communities.

Our goal is to help your community develop educational programmes best suited for you. Think of the Wilaya Trust as your own in-house educationalist, curriculum developer, and consultant—available whenever you need us. We help you think through your community’s requirements, and then create bespoke solutions to fulfil your community’s unique educational needs.

A Centre

We have found a very suitable building to lease, in the heart of Oxford, in which to house the scholars and resources needed to fulfil this mission. This site will simultaneously provide offices for our consultancy, a revenue-generating café, and a centre for Wilaya Trust’s local activities. We have come to an agreement with the landlord, who is expecting us to sign this week.

Somerset Cafe v2

Our immediate costs for securing the lease and the first year of operations is £210,000.
This will go towards (1) securing the building, (2) hiring a professional educationalist and part-time administrator to begin the projects, and (3) launching the revenue-generating café.

Endowment

In order to secure its long-term financial independence, the Wilaya Trust is establishing an endowment portfolio of businesses (including the aforementioned café), properties, and investments.

By 2027, all of the Trust’s activities will be financially self-sustaining, requiring no further fundraising thereafter.

Project Stages

The activities of the Wilaya Trust will be built up over three stages:

1. In the Seed Stage (2017–2019), the Wilaya Trust leases a premises in Oxford, establishes its main services (the research centre and consultancy, and the flagship educational institute), launches an income-generating café, and begins laying the groundwork for the rest of its endowment portfolio.

2. In Stage One (2020–2023), the Trust scales its services, while fundraising for a permanent home is pursued. All remaining aspects of the endowment are now established (the property portfolio and an investment portfolio).

3. In Stage Two (2024–2027), all of the Trust’s services continue to scale, and a permanent home is fully secured as a freehold property of the Trust. The endowment becomes robust enough to ensure that the Trust is self-sustaining in perpetuity.
