Course Description

A unique approach to reading about Islam, as a community, under the supervision of a teacher every week. Attending in-person or online, students will embark on a serious, long-term reading project, exploring the following modules through key books, specially chosen by the teacher:

  • How to Study the Qur'an
  • The Preservation and Transmission of Hadith
  • An Introduction to Islamic Law
  • The Principles of Creed
  • The Principles of Spirituality

Why attend this course?

To nurture a deeper appreciation of the Muslim scholarly tradition and its role in navigating the spiritual, social and intellectual challenges we face. Parents and educators will be able to better support the educational needs of the emerging generation of young Muslims. As a community we will foster knowledge, respect and reverence for the traditions of learning in Islam.

About the Instructor

Mansoor Malik

Mansoor Malik is a professional tutor in mathematics, Arabic and Islamic studies. He studied Arabic and traditional Islamic disciplines in Damascus, Jordan, Yemen, and the UK. He holds a degree in Philosophy from King's College, and an MPhil in Philosophy from the University of Warwick, where his research centred on approaches to knowledge and education. He is currently studying theoretical physics at the University of Nottingham.
